Assessments
Which psychometric tests suit recruitment in Vietnam?
Recruitment psychometrics fall into three kinds: aptitude tests that measure reasoning, personality assessments such as Hogan that show how someone is likely to work and lead, and work-style profiles such as DiSC and MBTI that describe how someone communicates. LHH Vietnam sells all three online, with prices on each product page, and the hiring and selection list shows the ones that hold up in a hiring decision.
The three kinds, and what each tells you
- Aptitude and cognitive tests: how well someone reasons with numbers, words and patterns. See the cognitive ability and aptitude tests list.
- Personality assessments: how someone is likely to behave at work, lead and respond under pressure. Hogan is the best known in this group.
- Work-style profiles: how someone prefers to communicate and work with others. Everything DiSC and the official MBTI belong here.
How to choose for a hire
Start from the decision. For a role where judgement and learning speed matter, an aptitude test is the first filter. For a leadership hire, a personality assessment shows what interviews cannot. Work-style profiles help most after the hire, when a manager and a new starter need a shared language.
No single test should decide a hire on its own. Used well, a result is one piece of evidence alongside the interview and the person’s record.
